Descants

The Descants, under the direction of Michael Berg Raunick since 2013, are the most advanced women’s choir at North Central and consist of 55 members and are consistently recognized as one of the top women’s concert and/or show choirs in the state of Indiana. The Descants were named the Indiana State School Music Association’s top women’s concert choir 6 of the last 11 years and top show choir 7 of the last 13 years, including being named the 2016 ISSMA Concert Choir State Champions as well as the ISSMA Show Choir State Champions for four out of the last five years. During the 2017-2018 school year the Descants performed the world premiere of Fantastic Shapes in Vivid Blue a commission by internationally renowned composer Dominic DiOrio, they also competed and finished as 1^st Runner Up at Showchoir Nationals at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
