A proud tradition dating back to the opening of North Central, the choir program has produced alumni who have become local leaders, arts educators, parents of 2nd generation NC Choirs members, and even award-winning performers on national stages. No matter if you performed on stage with one of our competitive groups as a student or supported as a parent, the motto, “Once a Counterpoint / Descant / Kings Court Singer (or parent), always a Counterpoint / Descant / Kings Court Singer (or parent)” applies.

Alumni Spotlight: Lauren Weedman

Counterpoints alum Lauren Weedman graduated North Central in 1987, but didn’t leave the influence of the school’s performing arts department behind. “If there had not been a Theater Rep class lead by Phil Lineback, and Counterpoints led by Bob Critzer, I would not have had the support to believe that I should take a leap that is a risky one and continue with the arts,” the actress said in a feature at the Washington Township Schools Foundation website.

 

Weedman’s long professional career has spanned film, television, and the stage. She recently received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her work in Hacks. She’s also had recurring roles on the shows Abbott Elementary and Sirens. She joined the Marvel Universe in 2026 with her appearance in the TV series Wonder Man.
