Private Vocal Lessons During the School Day
The art of singing is a marvelous pursuit. Singing is an activity that can enrich one’s life both musically and socially. The more one develops musical skills, the more one is capable of truly understanding the depth, beauty, and tremendous power that the world of music and singing has to offer.
The North Central Vocal Arts Academy (NCVAA) is an opportunity for students at North Central High School to boost their singing skills by receiving private lessons during the school day. Entry into the program is at the discretion of the student’s school music instructor with students who demonstrate leadership skills and a proactive work ethic receiving the opportunity.
Lessons in this program benefit students at all levels of vocal and artistic development. The program serves the beginning student and students who wish to explore music as a hobby. It prepares students seeking admission for collegiate and conservatory study. Students pursuing an IB diploma will be mentored for the performance portion of the activity. All students will be prepared to perform in the ISSMA District and State solo and ensemble competition that happens in the early spring of the year. The program satisfies the lesson and preparation requirements for the Honors Course at North Central High School.
The NCVAA has grown in scope and interest since its launch. Over 100 students are scheduled for lessons in the 2026-27 school year. Scholarships to help offset lesson costs are available thanks to the work of North Central’s Choir Parents Organization.
